ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN studio I

project 1   Models & Tattoos

Expressions through Design Elements & Principles

Learning outcome of the module:

- Generate design intentions through the process of exploring design principles.

- Identify key architectural design elements and principles with the ability to discern how they translate to form.

- Utilize a workshop-centric learning involving readers, sketches and model making as tools for generating and developing design ideas.

project 2   - TECTONICS

Design Principles, Anthropometric and Ergonomic Exploration

Learning outcome of the module:

- Generate design intentions through the process of exploring material.

- Identify key architectural design elements and principles with the ability to discern how they inform space and form.

- Relate the idea of design intention in anthropometric and ergonomic to space and its experiential qualities.

- Developing skills in producing construction drawings with orthographic and details

project 3

project 3   -  Interpretation and Representation

Principles, Tectonics and Sensory

Learning outcome of the module:

- Generate design intentions through the process of exploring material.

- Identify key architectural design elements and principles with the ability to discern how they inform space and form.

- Relate the idea of design intention in anthropometric and ergonomic to space and its experiential qualities.

- Utilize a workshop-centric learning involving readers, sketches and model making as tools for generating and developing design ideas.

- Produce legible orthogonal drawings and architectural models to visualize and communicate final design.

REFLECTION

In this module, I have learnt :

  • to express my ideas into a design project with design elements and principles.

  • to develop an idea fully with sketches, diagrams, study modules, orthographic drawings.

  • to analyze the architecture precedent and apply it to my own project.

  • to use the information and comments given by tutor to improve my work.

This was my first time on design studio as an architecture student. It was tough to start at the first project due to limitation of experience in drawing and designing. Despite, things get better until the thoughts, inspirations and comment given by my tutor. It was enough helpful and sufficient for all the project I have done. In this module, I gained an insight in how to work like an architect and also the basic understanding through space and form. Looking forward to the next semester !
